CEO Carphone Warehouse

“It was a remarkable trip, truly an experience of a lifetime that was both challenging and extremely rewarding”

Richard Eyre

Former CEO of ITV

To go there is only one way to understand the sublime beauty of the Pole, to respect its challenges and to experience the deep satisfaction of standing at the top of the planet. You have to go. It is indescribably marvellous.”

Garret Curran

MD, Head of European Derivatives Marketing, DrKW

“…..With life always seemingly moving faster and faster, and with the pervasiveness of the media age rending seclusion more elusive, it is more and more difficult to take stock and find moments for reflection. It is ironic that a journey of such proportions can create such a sense of calm and a context for appreciation and evaluation. I felt alive and alert on the ice cap, as I think we all did – I felt enormously privileged to be there and to live the life I lead. Walking on top of the planet, as it spins around its axis, rotating around the sun, brings you closer to the sheer magnitude of our universe, to the seeming infinity of the cosmos and you feel reduced, aware that you are just matter; atoms, molecules, utterly tiny, to the point of physical insignificance. And yet insignificance never felt more inspiring and empowering. The daily grind, boiling water, walking, eating, sleeping, keeping warm, emptying our bowels, all mundane activities in isolation which assume an epic dimension on the ice………”

Gordon Stein

Finance Director, Acorn Oil and Gas

“The trip was like nothing else on Earth. It was a wonderful, awesome experience that will always be very special particularly because of the team members – the way people gelled was increadible.”

Steve Owen

Deputy CEO Brixton Plc

“To me it was, quite simply, the most remarkable, challenging and awe inspiring experience of my entire life. The feeling on arriving at the Pole was just magical, especially after the trails and tribulations of the previous days. And to spend the expedition in the company of a fantastic group of like minded individuals made it all the more special. The camaraderie we built up over that period will remain with us all for ever. Be prepared for heart stopping moments, tremdous fatigue and a feeling of mind numbing cold at times. All part of an amazing adventure which was just fantastic!”

Reg Bamford

CEO 1st Contact Group

“The trek to the Pole was, without doubt, the most demanding, yet inspiring, challenge that I have ever undertaken. Standing atop the world, divorced from all humanity and daily life, was a stunning moment. It was a truly magical day. I’d be lying if I wasn’t a huge physical effort. We trekked for at least 8 hours each day (some days up to 12 hours). When the ground is soft your boots sink into the snow up to your knees, and every step is a massive effort. It was probably the most unspoilt and beautiful conditions that really took our breath away. Never more than a metre or two separated us from the icy waters of the Arctic Ocean.”
